Primary Ingredients
Each capsule of Limbrel provides 250 mg or 500 mg of flavocoxid, a proprietary blend of standardized extracts of
flavonoid constituents from the phytochemical source materials Scutellaria baicalensis and Acacia catechu, manufactured under drug cGMP standards.
The standardized formula of Limbrel is primarily comprised of two groups of flavonoid constituents: baicalin
(from Scutellaria baicalensis) and catechin (from Acacia catechu). Both have been used in
medicinal products for years in other countries around the world.
These flavonoid compounds are similar to constituent ingredients found in common foods such as soy, peanuts,
cauliflower, kale, apples, apricots, cocoa and green tea. Generally, from a health standpoint, most of the beneficial
ingredients in colored vegetables and fruits are flavonoids. The concentrated form of these molecules, however,
cannot be obtained from the diet or from a severe dietary change. In practical terms, a patient would need to
consume 3 or 4 pounds of fruits and vegetables in order to obtain the flavonoids in Limbrel. Limbrel provides
almost twenty times the normal intake of flavonoids when using standard dietary guidelines. Thus, the dietary
management of osteoarthritis may not be accomplished by a mere change in the diet.
See Limbrel’s package insert for the chemical characterization of baicalin and catechin.
